YOUNGSTOWN -- Inner-city youths who enjoy the arts and love to dance may audition for Shakers Performing Arts Camp, a two-week dance boot camp at the Youngstown Boys & amp; Girls Club, 2105 Oakhill Ave. The camp will teach several styles of dance as it prepares them for an urban ballet, a concert of movement. It is headed by Shuwanda Curry and Laiona Weaver, both professional performers from New York. Enrollment is limited; registration will be taken through Monday at the Boys & amp; Girls Club. Auditions will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Camp runs from Monday through July 1. For more information, call (330) 782-2714.
Music season kickoff
MERCER, Pa. -- The Mercer Community Band will open its 28th season of music on courthouse square at 7:30 p.m. Friday, featuring the theme "Echoes of the past" and vocal soloist Mark Hamilton and instrumental soloist Eduardo Mandujano-Aquilar, principal flutist of Youngstown State University's Dana Symphony Orchestra and graduate assistant of William Slocum, symphony conductor. Warm-up entertainment will be provided by Catro at 6:15 p.m. In the event of bad weather, the concert will be moved to Mercer High School, 545 W. Butler St., two blocks from the square. Evening trolley rides
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Evening trolley rides and museum tours will be offered during "Trolleys Till Dark" at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum, 1 Museum Road, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and July 8. Tours begin at 7, 7:45, 8:30 and 9:15 p.m. Complimentary Rita's Italian Ice will be served in the picnic area. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors (65 and older), $4 for children (3-15) and free to children 2 or younger and includes unlimited four-mile round-trip trolley rides, guided tour of the museum's original car house, the photo exhibit "On the Car Line: Pittsburgh & amp; Points South." Bridge Street Stroll
ASHTABULA -- The third annual Bridge Street Antique Stroll in Historic Ashtabula Harbor starts Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with many new vendors. The Harbor Merchants Association hosts the event the third Saturday of each month from June through October. Antique dealers or collectors are being sought.
