B.B. Rooners (independent) 19 & amp; under finished 5-1 in the Troy (Ohio) Memorial Tournament. Rooners defeated Worthington American Legion 7-5, Kalamazoo Maroons 8-6 in eight innings, Dayton Rawlings 26-10, Fairborn American Legion 10-8 and Lima American Legion, 4-3, before losing to Napoleon American Legion, 11-3. Leading hitters for Rooners (20-2 overall) were Justin Benson (Washington, Pa.) with nine hits, Shane Scott (Lakeview, Pa.) with eight, Brian Daugherty (Brookfield) and Brett Dutton (Girard) with seven each, and David Leon (Hermitage, Pa.) and Josh Cress (Slippery Rock, Pa.), with six apiece. Scott had three extra base hits, while Benson and Andy Todor (West Branch) had two each, and Daugherty had five stolen bases. Benson also had eight RBIs. Billy Couchenour (Columbiana) had a win and two saves, while Dutton, Joe Hardy (Bristol), Sam Suitca (Alliance) and Ryan Hays (Slippery Rock, Pa.) also picked up wins. Scott had two saves.

West Branch Terry's Tire Town/MAC Trailer 11, Salem Smile Wright 1 -- Winning pitcher Kolin Stanley struck out three batters. Tyler Strawser's three hits included a double. Brian Snoddy had two doubles while Seth Guy and Mick Manser each had a double and single. For Salem, Dan Gagnon struck out three batters. Columbiana DeChellis Dental 13, Austintown Paper Center 1 -- Tom Biroschak allowed five hits and one run over six innings, striking out eight. Steve Bensinger had three hits and scored three times. For Austintown, John Bigelow singled and scored.Columbiana DeChellis Dental 18, Campbell Police 8 -- Josh Less had four hits and scored four runs. Tom DeChellis and Pat Sposato had three hits apiece while Steve Bensinger and Eugene Leson scored three runs each. Astro Falcons 9, All-Star Sports 0 -- Shane Wagner pitched a one-hitter striking out seven, and the Astros had five triples. Shane Wagner and Nick Wiery had two hits each and Paul Cene had three RBIs. Matt Durkin had the only hit for All-Star Sports.Mahoning Valley Panthers 8, Wharmby Sports 6 -- Jay Gonzalez gave up three runs and Brad Bates struck out the final two batters for the Panthers. Jeff Bruno went 4-for-4 for the Panthers while Bo Beegle added three hits. Ross Revella had two hits for Wharmby Sports, including a triple.Line Drive 5, Rizer Group Insurance 1 -- Shane Parks pitched five innings, allowing one run and seven hits. Pat O'Brien and John Madeline pitched the final two innings. John Tatarka and Dean Porter had two hits each for Line Drive and O'Brien scored twice. For Rizer Mike Frasso and Kyle Callahan each contributed two hits and Jim Masterson doubled.Rondinelli 4, Joe Koch Realty 3 -- Jaymee Shephard tripled in John Simon in the bottom of the eighth inning for Rondinelli. SOFTBALL
The Valley Sting 18U fastpitch team traveled to the Toledo Tune-Up Tournament and won five of seven games. Sting opened with a 4-1 loss to a Port Perry (Canada) Angels, then won 10-1 as Kasey Karr (Champion) pitched a three-hitter. Markie Pozzuto (Mecca) and Karr then combined on a two-hitter as Sting defeated Toledo Lady Irish Blue 10-0. Karr pitched a complete-game two-hitter in a 1-0 win over Ohio Shockers, then Pozzuto did the same in an 8-0 win over Ohio Emeralds. Next, Sting lost 2-0 to Metro (Pa.) Express, then Pozzuto pitched another two-hitter in a 12-1 win over Ohio Naturals. Sting's offensive leaders were Allie Patton (Poland) with nine hits and seven runs scored, Pam Dreslinski (Kingsville) with eight hits and six RBIs, Karr with seven hits and eight RBIs, Kari Thompson (Poland) with seven hits and five runs scored, and Amanda Graeter (Lyndhurst) and Pozzuto with seven hits each. Jess Rabell (Albion, Pa.) had two triples, while Trisha Dreslinski (Kingsville), and Rachel Wolford (Kingsville) each added five hits.
