YWCA New board members named, honors given at centennial event



YOUNGSTOWN -- The YWCA of Youngstown recognized new members of its board of directors and issued special honors at its 100th annual meeting May 25 at the YWCA, 25 W. Rayen Ave.
New members named to the board through 2008 are Trudy Cheney, human resource director, Gasser Chair Co.; Chris Gabrick, principal, Schroedel, Scullin & amp; Bestic CPAs; Janet B. Johnson, registered nurse, Primary Health Care; Yvonne Mathis, director, Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine; Goldia McCall, service coordinator, Lutheran Social Services of the Mahoning Valley; Molly McLaughlin, dentist, Youngstown Community Health; and Elizabeth Nohra, executive director, Children's Museum of the Valley.
Susan U. Huber continues her term as president. Other officers are Susan M. Moorer, first vice president; Fran Curd, second vice president; Penny Miller, treasurer; and Rosemary McLaughlin, secretary, who received YWCA Board Member of the Year honors along with Judge Cheryl L. Waite.
Also honored
Migdalia Collazo received the YWCA Volunteer of the Year award, and Lora Comichisto, childcare program manager, was named YWCA Employee of the Year.
Named to the 2005-06 YWCA nominating committee are Ruth Bradshaw, Moorer, Rita Cintavey, Mary Lou Green, Kathleen W. Johnson, Verna Brown Kness and Amy Mirkin.
Anne McMahon, professor in Youngstown State University's Williamson College of Business, gave the keynote address.
The YW is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and continues to meet the needs of women and families through housing and supportive services, child care and youth development and health education and outreach.
The YWCA is a women's membership movement whose mission is to eliminate racism and empower women.
