TRUMBULL COMMISSIONERS County to financially help tourism take off
The revenue for the tourism board will come from lodging taxes.
WARREN -- Trumbull County commissioners will soon be making contributions to the Trumbull County Tourism Board.
Commissioners voted Wednesday to make contributions to the newly created board. The contributions will come from the collection of lodging tax, officials said.
The TCTB is the recognized tourism board in the county, commissioners said.
Last month, commissioners eliminated the 24-year-old Trumbull County Convention & amp; Visitors Bureau Inc. as the designated recipient of public funds. They established the new Trumbull County Tourism Board to receive 2 percent of the county's lodging tax.
Commissioners said that in the future the county may decide to hire a private agency to do tourism work or to bring the operation under the wings of the Western Reserve Port Authority.
New postage meter
In other matters, the county also approved a request from the clerk of courts to lease a new digital postage meter.
The lease will be for 60 months at a cost of $23,405. The equipment will be leased from Pitney Bowes of Shelton, Conn.
The postage meter will be used by all of the clerk of court's departments, including auto title and domestic relations.
Commissioners also entered into a contract with the Ohio Public Defender's Office for the next year at a cost of $642,096.
