BOXING 28 bouts scheduled for finals of Tri-County K.O. Drugs event
COLUMBIANA -- The finals of the Tri-County K.O. Drugs boxing tournament are set for Friday night at Columbiana High School.
There are 28 bouts on the card, including 27 for championships and a "special bout."
A feature bout has Kelsey Hedrick from Beaver Local fighting for the upperclass junior middleweight title against Canfield's Zack Guerrieri. Both of those athletes received the upperclass Most Promising Boxer award in their respective tournaments.
Frank Papania of Crestview and his cousin, Beau Papania of Columbiana, are sluggers and they are going for titles.
Frank Papania will face Jose Mateo of Campbell in an upperclass super middleweight bout, while Beau Papania will go in against Paul Perry of Girard in an upperclass cruiserweight fight.
There are three female fights on the card, with Ashley Jackson from Lisbon taking on Stephani Stahli from Struthers for the welterweight title of the upperclass.
The super heavyweight title bouts in both the underclass and the upperclass are excellent matchups, with Chris McIntyre from Columbiana battling Bill Bowden from South Range for the 9th and 10th grade title, and Caleb Crowl from Lisbon taking on Derek Wagner from Warren JFK for the upperclass crown.
