2 investigations result in seizure of 128 marijuana plants, 3 arrests



BOARDMAN -- Township police narcotics investigators arrested three people and seized more than 120 marijuana plants and other drug paraphernalia from two township homes.
Police searched a home at 1821 Lealand Ave. Wednesday morning and took 128 marijuana plants from two rooms in the basement. They also took bags of packaged marijuana, lights, fans, fertilizer and other supplies and equipment.
The residents, Richard Shutrump, 38, and Lisa Price, 33, were both charged with cultivation of marijuana, a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia and permitting drug abuse, both misdemeanors.
Sgt. Mike Hughes, supervisor of the department's narcotics enforcement unit, said the two arrests conclude a two-month investigation by the unit.
On Tuesday afternoon, police searched a home at 7627 Red Fox Drive and took marijuana, potting soil, grow mix and other equipment as a result of a three-month investigation. Police said it appeared that a marijuana-growing operation had recently been dismantled.
The resident, Matthew Cessna, 26, was charged with cultivation of marijuana, a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia and permitting drug abuse, both misdemeanors.
