School district set to review applications for superintendent

CAMPBELL -- The Campbell City School District board will begin reviewing applications today for the school superintendent's position.
Twenty-one applications were received by Friday's deadline, district treasurer Patricia McLaughlin said. The board has scheduled a special meeting for 5:30 p.m. today to discuss the applications in executive session.
School board president Diane Petruska said the board would narrow the field of candidates to a list of finalists to be interviewed next week.
A second round of interviews will be held during the last week in June, and the board hopes to hire a superintendent by the first few days in July, she said.
The Ohio School Boards Association has conducted the search to this point for the school district. Cost to the district will be from $5,900 to $8,200, board members have said.
The new superintendent will replace Campbell native James A. Ciccolelli, whose contract was not renewed at the end of the 2003-04 school year. He served as superintendent for 12 years.
Ciccolelli, 55, submitted his retirement resignation, effective Aug. 1, at the board's meeting May 24.
The board's job listing on the OSBA's Web site does not specify a salary for the position. Ciccolelli was paid $85,931 under his final contract.
