IBL BASKETBALL Dayton topples Wildcats, 129-101

STRUTHERS -- Dayton scored the first five points of the game and the Mahoning Valley Wildcats never recovered as the Jets won their seventh straight game, 129-101, Sunday at the Struthers Fieldhouse.
Dayton (12-1) holds the second-best record in the International Basketball League.
The Jets used a 12-man rotation which did not include top scorer Dubray Black who was at a tryout camp.
Six Jets scored in double figures, led by Malcom Fields with 20 in just 19 minutes of action. Ramod Marshall had 17 points and Zach Williams 16 to pace Dayton.
Rick McFadden led the Wildcats (9-5) with 26 points while Joe Lewandowski added 20, TeJay Anderson 13, and Lawrence Culver 12 points. McFadden and Lewandowski had six 3-point field goals each.
Early lead
Dayton opened up a 20-6 lead midway through the first quarter and held a 32-20 lead after the first 12 minutes. Dayton increased the advantage to 58-40 at halftime.
The Wildcats shot 30 percent from the field in the opening half and were just 5 of 13 (39 percent) from the foul line.
Mahoning Valley never got within single digits in the second half as the Jets forced 26 Wildcat turnovers. Dayton suffered 20 miscues.
Dayton won the rebounding battle 71-60, with Brooks Hall pulling down 14 rebounds. Culver had nine rebounds, and Chad Allen eight for the Cats.
The game scheduled for this Thursday between the Cats and Akron has been canceled since Akron replaced Windy City in Saturday's game.
The Wildcats' home game against McComb County set for Sunday at 1 p.m. will be played at Farrell High School due to graduation at Struthers.
Windy City has used all its travel budget for the season and will play its remaining games at home.
