"Dare to Dream: Journey to the Moon/Humans to Mars." A journey to the Moon and to Mars presented by local resident William Muscolo, manager of the Chemical Inventory System for NASA's John H. Glenn Research Center at Lewis Field. Also featured is amateur astronomer Barbara Muscolo who will present a journey into the galaxy for school-age children at Campbell, 2 p.m. Aug. 1; and Sebring, 10 a.m. Aug. 25.
"Daring Deeds Under the Sea." What's it like to dive beneath the sea? Underwater adventure with Commander William Hack, chief diver, and the members of the Mahoning County Sheriff's Department Dive Team. Get a close up look at scuba gear, learn water safety and see photos of actual dives for school-age children at Austintown, . 1; Boardman, Aug. 11; Brownlee Woods, Aug. 18; and Poland, Aug. 8. Programs begin at 2 p.m.
"Diary of a Worm by Doreen Cronin." Stories, craft and a peak into the busy life of a lovable worm for grades K-3. Presented by Peg Flynn and Kim Lewis of the Mahoning County Green Team. "Parachute Play." Stories and parachute games for children ages 2-6 at Boardman, 10 a.m. & amp; 1 p.m. Aug. 24. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
"Time for Babies and Books." Books, songs, rhymes, and more for children ages 6-12 months at 9:30 a.m. and for children ages 13-23 months at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 4, at Boardman. An adult must accompany each child.
"Western Reserve Modular Railroad Club." Enjoy this fabulous model railroad display at Austintown, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 6.

"Medieval Garden of Herbs with Lady Catherine." Lady Catherine travels from the village of Lovain in the year 1429 to teach us the importance of herbs in the medieval period and how this history affects the use of herbs today. Presenter Kathleen Gips is the author of numerous articles and her book, "Flora's Dictionary: The Victorian Language of Herbs and Flowers." She will be appearing at Boardman, 7 p.m. Aug. 16. "Edward Brainard's Birthday" at Main, 2-4 p.m. Aug. 11. The public is invited to celebrate the life of Edward Brainard with a special cookies and punch reception. Edward died at the age of 22 during the flu epidemic of 1918. His mother Lydia and aunt Phebe Sutliff created a special fund in his memory that is still used today to purchase books for young adults.
"Oakwood Cemetery Tour" at Oakwood Cemetery, 860 Niles Rd. SE in Warren, 2 p.m. Aug. 28. Tour this historic resting place and learn little-known facts about some of Warren's most famous residents. ADULT PROGRAMMING & amp; SPECIAL EVENTS
"Anime," 1-3 p.m. Aug. 3: Young adult librarian Sarah Gilpin will facilitate this showing of anime -- Japanese animation, as the kick-off to three weeks of programs with "Lupin III: Island of Assassins." Youths 12-18 are welcome. Refreshments will be served.
Baby Time: 11 a.m. Aug. 5 and 19.
"Anime." 1-3 p.m. Aug. 10: "Descendants of Darkness: Vampire Allure." Youths ages 12-18 and refreshments.
"Strike Up the Band," 2-3 p.m. Aug. 14: Girard Community Band will be on hand for a fun-filled afternoon with a variety of music that appeals to all ages. Refreshments will be served. This program is the cap off to the adult summer reading program.
"Anime," 1-3 p.m. Aug. 17: "The Place Promised in Our Early Days." Youths ages 12-18 and refreshments.
