PITTSBURGH -- A CAPSULE LOOK AT THE PITTSBURGH STEELERS TRAINING CAMP, WHICH OPENS TODAY:

PITTSBURGH -- A capsule look at the Pittsburgh Steelers training camp, which opens today:
Site: St. Vincent College, Latrobe, Pa., about 50 minutes east of downtown Pittsburgh.
Summers: Steelers have trained at St. Vincent since 1967. They have had only three coaches during that span: Bill Austin (1967-68), Chuck Noll (1969-91) and Bill Cowher (1992-present).
Sounds: It's noisy on the three practice fields, which are surrounded by hillsides that create a natural amphitheater. The cheering that follows a big play can sound like that of a stadium.
Spectators: Can attend the afternoon practices only, currently scheduled for Tuesday-Saturday, Aug. 8-13, Aug. 17-18 and Aug. 22-24. The Aug. 10 practice is set for Latrobe High School at 7 p.m. The rest start at 3 p.m., except for the Saturday workouts on Aug. 6 and Aug. 13 at 12:15 p.m. All times are subject to change. Because the Steelers have home exhibition games Aug. 15 and Aug. 20 in Pittsburgh, they will practice at camp only two days that week.
Signatures: Fans can seek autographs after practices as the players climb the stairs leading from the practice fields to their locker rooms.
Signings: All rookies are signed and sealed before camp begins, a rarity for the Steelers -- partly because they drafted so low in the first round (No. 30) that tight end Heath Miller's contract doesn't rival that of last year's first-rounder, No. 11 pick Ben Roethlisberger. The only player expected to be missing today is Hines Ward, who is unsigned past this season and is vowing to hold out until he gets a deal comparable to the NFL's other top wide receivers.
