Panel hosts regional planning workshop



NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Lawrence County's Public Participation Panel is hosting a workshop designed to teach the public about regional planning in southwestern Pennsylvania.
The session will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the Neshannock Township Municipal Building, 3131 Mercer Road. As part of an ongoing effort, the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission is also looking to the public for help in developing the next update of the Southwestern Pennsylvania regional plan.
The comments are needed to set planning and project priorities that will be consideration for federal and state funding. Public comments will be used to help develop the 2007-10 Transportation Improvement Program.
Representatives from the planning commission, Lawrence County Planning Department, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the New Castle Transit Authority will be available to answer questions at the workshop. They also will be able to help attendees submit comments and ideas about the county's transportation and development needs.
