Ice rink facts
The surface area is 17,000 square feet.
About 11 miles of cooling pipe and three miles of heating pipe are in the floor.
Four thermostats measure temperature.
The cooling system uses about 3,000 gallons of brine, a calcium chloride solution, as a cooling agent.
The rink floor includes three feet of crushed limestone base, 15 inches of sand on top of the limestone, two layers of two-inch insulation on top of the sand and a five-inch thick concrete slab atop the sand.
