Burglarized Austintown woman suffers $10,214 loss

AUSTINTOWN -- An 85-year-old Penny Lane woman returned from weeding her flower bed to find two people robbing her home.
The woman told police that she came inside her home Wednesday morning and saw a man and a woman leaving her bedroom. The man told the woman he had come in to use the bathroom.
"No you're not," the victim told police she said. "You're robbing me. That's my suitcase."
The female suspect pulled the homeowner out of the way as the man ran out of the home. The robbers then got into a gray car that was pulled into a nearby driveway and they drove off.
The victim reported a red leather suitcase, $214 in cash and more than $10,000 in jewelry was taken.
Police said the thieves entered the house through an open overhead garage door.
