Valley United Way aims for a goal of $725,000
BOARDMAN -- The Youngstown/Mahoning Valley United Way announced a $725,000 fund-raising goal for its Pacesetter campaign, which started last week.
The Pacesetter campaign consists of the Pacesetter Division, a coalition of 41 local companies and businesses that support United Way as well as all 30 United Way agencies. Pacesetter companies hope to increase both corporate and employee giving by 10 percent.
With the results from the Pacesetter companies and early advance gifts, United Way hopes to have $1 million or 33 percent of the total campaign goal of $3 million raised by the general campaign kick-off on Aug. 31.
"Building momentum in these early months is critical to the success of the annual campaign," said Bob Shroder, president and CEO of Humility of Mary Health Partners, and campaign chairman.
Donors who give a minimum of $2 per week, or a total gift of $104 annually, will have an opportunity to win a two-year lease on a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt. Details of the drawing are available at the Youngstown/Mahoning Valley United Way Web site, www.ymvunitedway.org.
Again during this year's campaign, donors will have the opportunity to designate their gift to a specific area of need or nonprofit agency, UW officials said.
