Sidewalk chalk-drawing contest set



WARREN -- The 26th annual Chalk on the Walk contest will be from 11 a.m. to noon Friday at Courthouse Park downtown.
Children of all ages are invited to draw on the sidewalks for prizes. The event is sponsored by the Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County as part of the Noon in the Park series. Free chalk is provided.
Registration will begin at 11 a.m. and judging will begin at 12:15 p.m. Teams of local celebrities and professional artists will select winners from each of the six age groups based upon originality, imagination and creativity, plus fullest use of the space and use of special techniques. Winners will be announced at 1:15 p.m.
The day's entertainment will be provided by local magician, Gary Morton at 12:30 p.m.
Only chalk issued by the Fine Arts Council may be used. A general information table will be located near the gazebo in Courthouse Park.
Funding for Chalk on the Walk is by Trumbull 100; Warren Area Chamber of Commerce's Educational, Cultural and Civic Foundation; First Place Bank Community Foundation; St. Joseph Health Center; First Energy Foundation; Sky Bank and Sprint.
The regular Noon in the Park vendors will be on hand to serve lunch to all who attend. The menu includes gyros, hot dogs, Italian sausage, pizza, fruit, ice cream and apple dumplings.
