SCHOOLS Education board extends McDonald workers' pacts

The board approved a new contract for the district treasurer.
McDONALD -- The board of education approved a new two-year contract Monday with the district's classified employees effective Sept. 1, granting the 17 employees a 3 percent increase for each of the next two years.
No insurance changes are included in the new contract, which will continue until Aug. 31, 2007, for the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 4, AFL-CIO Local 662. The district's teachers also received a new two-year contract with a 3 percent increase in both years in a new contract approved by the board in June.
The board also approved a new four-year contract for the treasurer, Thomas Radabaugh, who has been with the district for 14 years. Radabaugh will also receive a 3 percent increase this year, from $56,000 to $57,680.
Hirings and pay increases
The board hired Transportation Supervisor Michele Kostelic on a supplemental contract. Kostelic, who was hired in February to take over for retired Jerry Deyarmin, will also receive a 3 percent increase from Aug. 1 to July 31, 2006, increasing her $4,425 salary to $4,562.
Tom Amicone, bus maintenance employee, was hired for an additional five hours a week to do minor nonsafety related repairs to district school buses, at $14.75 an hour.
Office personnel who will also receive a 3 percent increase include: Diane Fossaceca, from $12.31 to $12.68 an hour; Norma Pignanelli, from $14 to $14.42 an hour; and Pamela Streb, from $30,148 to $31,053 an hour. The board also rehired part-time elementary school librarian Kathy Sacco, increasing her rate from $17 to $17.51 an hour for 19.5 hours a week for the 2005-06 school year. She can work additional hours if needed.
Re-employed as a part-time elementary school computer teacher, Denise Rubano will receive an increase from $17 to $17.51 an hour for 19.5 hours a week. She can work additional hours if needed under her contract for the 2005-06 school year.
