W.Va. man is robbed, carjacked while stopped at intersection

YOUNGSTOWN -- A West Virginia man was robbed of money and his truck Sunday afternoon while sitting at a stop sign.
Larry Powers, 47, of Rock Cave, W.Va., was in town visiting a relative in the 1400 block of Humbolt Avenue when two men robbed him of his 1999 Toyota Tacoma truck and $44, police reports show.
According to the report, Powers was at a stop sign near Indianola Avenue and Cooper Street when one man in a white Oldsmobile with Ohio plates DJM-7720 rear-ended him. Then a driver in a white Pontiac Grand Am pulled in front of Powers, blocking him in, the report says.
One of the perpetrators walked to Powers' vehicle's passenger side and pulled a 9 mm handgun and demanded money, the report shows. The man was described as 5 feet 11 inches and 240 pounds.
The other perpetrator reached in Powers' pocket and took $44, the report says. He was described as a black man 5 feet 7 inches, 175 pounds and wearing a white T-shirt and blue shorts.
Before stealing his truck, one of the men told Powers to get out of the vehicle and run, which he did, according to the report. Powers was not hurt and the case is under investigation.
