NABF Rondinelli, Astro Falcons come up short in tourney



STRUTHERS -- The Ontario Canada Astros played the Ohio Yankees for the National Amateur Baseball Federation Regional Senior (18 and under) championship at Cene Park late Saturday night at Cene Park. There were no results at press time.
Earlier in the day, the Yankees eliminated Rondinelli Tuxedo, 6-1, and Ontario ousted Astro Falcons, 7-0.
Ben Klafczynski hit a triple and single and scored twice for Ohio Yankees, who were limited to just six hits by Astro pitcher Matt Bable.
Dan Babyak hit three singles and Hayden Johnston and Frank Rosile hit a pair of singles apiece for Rondinelli.
Ontario 7, Astro Falcons 0
Russ Gilroy scattered eight hits with four strikeouts as he shut out the Falcons to pick up the win.
Danny Markovic hit a single and drove in three runs for Ontario. Danny Wyciszkiewcz added a pair of singles and scored three times.
Adam Wigley and Josh McKinney each hit a pair of singles for Astro.
Juniors
STRUTHERS -- Astro Falcons of the Class Little b League will play the Huntington Hounds today at 10 a.m. at Cene Park 1 for the NABF Regional Junior Tournament (16 and under) championship.
The Falcons earned their spot as they eliminated R & amp;J Trucking 11-9 Saturday at Cene.
R & amp;J trucking took a 7-5 lead in the top of the fourth inning, but the Falcons scored four runs in the bottom half of the inning, then added two more runs in the fifth to prevail.
Mike Dota led the Falcons with three singles. He scored three times and drove in two runs. Cameron Konop added three hits and scored three runs. David DiJacimo hit a double, a single and drove in four runs and Kolten Hoffman hit two singles, scored three times and drove in a run.
Matt Heller paced R & amp;J Trucking with three singles and Mark Carrocce hit a double and single and drove in two runs.
The Hounds remained unbeaten as they eliminated the Buffalo Mustangs, beating them twice by scores of 5-3 and 8-7.
Should Astros win the 10 a.m. contest, a second game for the title will be played at 12:30 p.m.
