CRIME Man will be in court as suspect in break-in

The accused drove through red lights and stop signs during his flight from police.
BOARDMAN -- A preliminary hearing will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday for Miles Hogan, 41, of East Boston Avenue, Youngstown, who is accused of breaking into Smoker Friendly, 4605 Market St., Thursday.
He was apprehended later after a brief pursuit by Boardman, Youngstown, Struthers, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Poland police officers.
Hogan is facing charges of breaking and entering, failure to comply, obstructing official business, aggravated menacing, vandalism, resisting arrest, possession of criminal tools, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, reckless operation, failure to display an operating license and no seat belt.
A police report said that before he was finally arrested, Hogan's vehicle almost hit a Boardman cruiser and another vehicle as he turned eastbound onto Midlothian Boulevard.
Police said he continued to drive recklessly, almost causing several head-on accidents. Hogan finally stopped his car in the middle of Zedaker Street.
At this point, Boardman police were notified of a security alarm set off at Smoker Friendly. Hogan's connection to the break-in was not known until after investigators watched the surveillance tapes and found that Hogan's vehicle backed into the front of the business to gain entry. The business owner said nothing appeared to be missing.
Damage was observed on the rear of Hogan's vehicle, and a black piece of molding missing from Hogan's vehicle was discovered at the scene, according to police reports.
Escape effort
While on the traffic stop, Hogan became "hostile and argumentative," police said. He also refused to comply with commands such as showing his license, raising his right hand or exiting the vehicle.
Backup units were called to the scene.
When backup arrived, Hogan drove off northbound on Zedaker. Officers pursued Hogan through Youngstown as he made numerous attempts to bail from the vehicle as it turned down other streets, reports show.
Hogan traveled through red lights and stop signs until he abandoned the vehicle in a front yard on Powers Way.
Hogan did not take the time to put the car in park as he ran from it, police said
Officers pursued Hogan on foot and apprehended him in the area of Jackson Elementary School.
