COLUMBIANA -- A 75-year-old New Waterford woman was killed in an accident at the intersection of Windjammer Drive and state Route 14 just after 4 p.m. Friday.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was driving eastbound on state Route 14 when her vehicle hit a pickup truck that was stopped in traffic, according to Columbiana Police Department reports. The force of the impact knocked the truck she hit into another truck, reports said.
No other serious injuries were reported.
The accident is under investigation by the Columbiana police and the Columbiana Coroner's Office.
Guns stolen from home
WARREN -- Police are investigating the theft of three guns, including an assault rifle, from a Warren home.
A 46-year-old man reported someone broke into his Brighton Avenue Northeast home through the back door between 2 and 3 p.m. Thursday.
According to the police report, the man said nothing seemed out of place and he didn't notice until later that four prescriptions, $450, two revolvers and an assault rifle were missing.
Woman held captivein Lawrence County
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A Worthington Avenue man was arrested and arraigned Thursday after being accused of assaulting his wife and locking her in a bedroom for three days.
Daryl Morella, 48, of Worthington Avenue, remains in the Lawrence County Jail with a $25,000 bond on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, false imprisonment and unlawful restraint.
Morella's 33-year-old wife filed the charges.
State police in Clarion County arrested Morella and held him on a felony warrant issued by Neshannock police.
Block watch meeting
YOUNGSTOWN -- The North Side Eagle Eye Block Watch will meet at New Grace Missionary Baptist Church, 909 Fairgreen Ave., at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
All who plan to attend should bring a lawn chair. Weather permitting, the meeting will be held outside.
Theft from campground
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The Pittsburgh District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking public help in identifying one or more vandals who caused $1,500 in damage to the Shenango Lake Campground between June 10 and June 23.
For the second time this year, one or more people heavily damaged signs along Coonie Trail. A slide also was stolen from the Mahaney Recreation Area before it could be attached to other new playground equipment.

Superintendent choice
WARREN -- The board of education chose a potential superintendent at its meeting Wednesday, but declined to say who the candidate is. Board president Linda H. Metzendorf said it is "premature for an announcement."
She said she has had a verbal discussion with the candidate; the candidate's attorney and the board's attorney are working on the contract.
She said she hopes to announce the new superintendent at the board's regular July meeting, 7 p.m. Tuesday, in the boardroom of the administrative building, 261 Monroe St. N.W.
Gardens closing dates
YOUNGSTOWN -- Fellows Riverside Gardens, including the Davis Center, will be closed to the public at 3 p.m. Friday for the Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens' annual garden party fund-raiser.
The gardens also will be closed Aug. 11 for the MetroParks' Volunteer Picnic.
Golf course closure
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Par 3 Golf Course in the Wick Recreation Area of Mill Creek MetroParks will be closed on July 30 until 5 p.m. for the Mill Creek Children's Center fund-raiser golf tournament.
Road construction
NEW SPRINGFIELD -- Rapp Road between Middletown and Columbiana roads in Springfield Township will be closed from 7:30 a.m. Tuesday to 4 p.m. Wednesday for two culvert replacements.
Traffic will be detoured along Middletown and Columbiana roads and state Route 170.
