Church of Christ pastor appointed police chaplain

MINERAL RIDGE -- Weathersfield Township trustees appointed the Rev. Robert A. Gleason as police chaplain.
The Rev. Mr. Gleason is pastor of Church of Christ of Mineral Ridge, 3911 Main St.
A second pastor is also working at no charge for the township, trustees said. Chairman Fred Bobovnyk said the chaplains sometimes travel with police officers while on patrol and assist officers in times of danger and sadness.
Trustees also approved demolition and removal of all structures at 3866 Main St., next to the Dollar General Store. The two-story house is falling down, and bids will be taken on the demolition first.
Other action
The trustees accepted a donation of $600 from Reliant Energy East Region for the township fire department.
Trustees explained to resident Jean Wilkes, 3008 Clearfield Ave., that a complaint filed by the township zoning department against Lou Morocco, owner of Morocco Services, Inc., 3008 Woodland Ave., will be decided by a Niles Municipal Court Judge.
The township zoning department filed a complaint against Morocco for running two businesses at the location, after he had told the Zoning Board of Appeals he would only run one business from the location.
Morocco's attorney and Niles Municipal Court Prosecutor Atty. Bruce W. Bennett, who represents the township in the case, presented the judge with a "finding of facts" and the judge will make a decision on the case from there.
