Suspect to face hearingin vehicular assault
CAMPBELL -- An 18-year-old Campbell man is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Friday on two charges of attempted aggravated vehicular assault.
Manoli Scoutellis was arrested Saturday on the felony charges after a July 10 incident in which a 12-year-old boy was beaten on a Campbell street. He was released on $5,000 bond on Tuesday.
Another Campbell man, Timothy Reese, 18, has been charged with assault in the case. Campbell Detective Sgt. Gus Nicklaou said police determined that Scoutellis was driving the car that Reese was riding in before the beating took place.
Man hears gunshots
WARREN -- A 25-year-old man said he heard approximately five to seven shots at about 11 p.m. Monday and found a spent lead slug in his bathtub.
According to police reports, the man first thought the shots were fireworks, but found drywall in his bathroom sink. He then found the spent slug, which had passed through the wall into the bathroom.
The man said he has had no problems with anyone leading up to the shooting and has no additional leads or suspects.
Woman attacked by man
WARREN -- A 44-year-old woman was attacked by an unidentified male on the sidewalk outside her residence around 10:30 Monday night.
According to police reports, a witness said the woman got into a verbal altercation with the man, who was in a silver Chevrolet Blazer. The man got out of his vehicle and attacked the woman, throwing her to the sidewalk, and then fled before police arrived.
Anti-landfill meeting
GIRARD -- Girard United Against Ruinous Dumping will have a town hall meeting 7 p.m. Thursday at the city gym to discuss a landfill proposed for the city.
