2010 Council will decide on Land Use Plan

YOUNGSTOWN -- City council is expected to approve the Youngstown 2010 Land Use Plan today.
The city's planning commission recommended at its Tuesday meeting that council approve the plan.
The document, in development for more than a year, will be used by the city as its guiding plan for development. The plan seeks to decrease the city's heavy industrial areas and create more industrial green space.
The plan also offers outlines for improving neighborhoods, attracting business to the city's downtown and making the city cleaner.
The 2010 planning commission stressed public involvement in the plan's process.
The commission met with 11 neighborhood clusters and used their opinions and suggestions to develop the document.
"Certainly no one in the city can say that they didn't have an opportunity to be a part of this process," said Carmen S. Conglose Jr., the city's deputy director of public works.
