Today the locals meet Ohio Warhawks, which is also unbeaten.
STRUTHERS -- Astro Falcons remained one of three unbeaten teams in the AABC Connie Mack state baseball tournament at Cene Park Monday.
Astro Falcons' Tad Gaspar pitched a complete game, the team's fourth in as many games, as they defeated Guscoff Baseball, 7-2. Gaspar allowed two earned runs on four hits with four strikeouts and four walks.
John Mang had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs for Astro. Jared Bartholomew had three singles, scored three times and stole two bases. Jim Kriebel doubled for Astro, which returns today at 2 p.m. to play Ohio Warhawks, who are also unbeaten.
Ohio Blue Thunder is the third unbeaten team.
Livi Steel 10, Boys of Summer 7
Livi Steel scored seven times in the final three innings to come from behind. Marc Rossi had three hits while Manoli Pahoulis and Brock Stevens added two apiece for Livi. Calvin Clayton tossed three scoreless innings of relief for the win. He had three strikeouts. Todd Myers had three hits for the Boys of Summer.
Ohio Warhawks 11,Joe Koch/Line Drive Select 1
Ohio Warhawks had only five hits, but took advantage of five errors by KLD. Eric Best allowed only three hits, two of them by Anthony Porter, while striking out five as the Warhawks scored seven times in the third inning. Brian McNeal and Clay Grube each had two hits for the Warhawks. Porter also doubled for KLD.
Massillon Tigers 10,R & amp; J Trucking 6
Massillon eliminated R & amp; J with five runs in the sixth inning. Sam Wade, Jarrod Turkall, and Jeremy Reese had two hits each for Massillon and Wade picked up the win. Ed Rohan had a double and a single for R & amp; J Trucking.
Springfield Armoloy 6,Mink Financial 5
Armoloy scored three runs (two unearned) in the top of the sixth inning. Charlie Edwards' double scored go-ahead run for Springfield. Edwards had three hits as did Loren Fleischman. Bruce Whittington went the distance for the win. Ryan Myers had a pair of hits for Mink while Dave Piersante drove home two runs with a triple.
Wharmby Sports 10,Buckeye Academy 0
Tom Popadak tossed a two-hitter with three strikeouts, while Josh Fyffe, Lou Kopachy, Jesse Alfreno, and Andy Chrobak had two hits each for Wharmby. Billy Herman and Chrobak had doubles.
Rondinelli Tuxedo 5,Mentor Post 352 3
Rondinelli stayed alive with an eight-inning win. Hayden Johnston had four hits, including a triple for Rondinelli, while Matt Dado doubled. Dave Baco was the winner in relief, going 11/3 innings and allowing just two hits. Tom Bayer had two hits for Mentor.
Astro Falcons 10, Ohio Blaze 1
John Mang had three strikeouts and allowed just four hits. He also had three hits and three RBIs. Drew Turocy and Joe Irwin added two hits each for Astro, while Adam Wigley and Jimmy Kriebel both tripled. Mang doubled twice, while Turocy, Jesse D'Amico and Jared Bartholomew had one each. Jim Jamieson tripled for Blaze.
Ohio Warhawks 3, Livi Steel 1
Matt Schuh went the first 41/3 innings for the win and Karl Fultz finished to get the save. They each had five strikeouts. J.B. Shuck had three hits for the Warhawks. Derek Sumner tossed a complete game in defeat. He allowed three runs and struck out nine. Livi stranded nine men on base. Stephen Hermann and Scott Wildesen both doubled.
Koch/Line Drive Select 5,JL Clevelanders 3
Kevin Sikora allowed two earned runs with eight strikeouts and added two hits in the win for Koch/Line Drive. Nate Tascik had three hits and Dom Modarelli added a pair of hits.
Rondinelli Tuxedo 7,Wharmby Sports 4
In a game that featured 25 hits, Hayden Johnston tossed a complete game for the win, and added three hits. Chuck Olesky, Phil Williamson, and Greg Sansone had two hits each for Rondinelli. For Wharmby, Jesse Alfreno, Andy Chrobak, and Tom Popadak had two hits each.
Other games
Guscoff Baseball defeated Cage Club Yard Dogs 3-1, as Zach Messer outdueled Pat Gesing. Messer allowed only one run on six hits with seven strikeouts, while Gesing allowed three runs on three hits with four strikeouts.
Ohio Blue Thunder defeated Boys of Summer 5-3, as Jordan Petraitis had two hits and Brad Competty hit a two-run inside the park homer.
