BOOK SALES
XFriends of Rodman Public Library, 215 E. Broadway St., Alliance, will conduct a used book sale beginning Aug. 15 and ending on Aug. 17 with a $1 a bag sale. FESTIVALS
XThe 73rd annual Serbian Picnic Day will be held Sunday beginning at noon at the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird St., Youngstown. Entertainment will be provided by Libby's Tamburitzans from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., and the Velibor Drobnjak Orchestra will perform from 4 to 9 p.m. Chicken paprikash will be available at 11:30 a.m. along with roasted lamb, pork and grilled cevap dinners. Homemade doughnuts and pastries will be available, and there will be a raffle, refreshments and games for the children.
FUND-RAISERS
XMotorfest 2005 will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Old North Church, Herbert Road, Canfield, as a benefit for the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley. The event is open to antique car, automobile and motorcycle enthusiasts, and will feature live music, food, awards and giveaways. A donation will be accepted for photographs. XOrganizacion Civica Y Cultural Hispana Americana Inc. (OCCHA) will hold a golf outing Saturday at Bedford Trails Golf Course, 713 Bedford Road. The event will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. and will feature a continental breakfast, lunch and dinner. There will be a $50,000 hole-in-one prize on two of the par-three holes, an original hat autographed by Chi Chi Rodriguez, hole prizes for men and women, and other events. XPatchwork Co-Op Association of Artisans and Craftspersons, 192 Haseltine Ave., Youngstown, is looking for people who are retired or with time to volunteer to teach anything from traditional and machine quilting, doll-making or other crafts to secretarial, management, marketing, sales, computer/Internet and other skills to assist women in creating opportunities in entrepreneurship in the community.
