Warren hosting blood drive

WARREN -- The American Red Cross and city of Warren are urging people to be "hometown heroes" by donating blood or platelets.
"By talking a small amount of time to donate blood, several lives can be saved," said Mayor Michael J. O'Brien. "Not just in our local community, but throughout the entire country."
The Northeast Ohio blood supply continues to drop. There is about a half-day supply of OP, AP, ON, AN and ABN.
All those who are eligible to donate blood and platelets are asked to do so as soon as possible. To donate blood you must be at least 17, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health and provide a valid photo ID upon donation. You may give blood every 56 days.
For additional information or to find a nearby blood or platelet donation site, call (800) GIVE-LIFE (448-3543) or log onto www.northernohio.redcross.org.
