Top Gun Rose Show, auction next weekend at Mill Creek

YOUNGSTOWN -- Mahoning Valley Rose Society will host the Top Gun Rose Show next weekend at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park.
Top exhibitors in the state and surrounding areas will be exhibiting roses at the Davis Center from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
A catered buffet dinner is planned for 6 p.m. Friday evening, with David Clemens, noted exhibitor and hybridizer, as guest speaker. He also plans to bring a cutting of his newest rose, Whirlaway, which will be introduced next year, and donate it for the Saturday rose auction.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. Saturday. Judging of hybrid teas, miniature and mini-flora roses will take place at 9, Clemens will speak again at 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., and speakers and educational breakout sessions are scheduled throughout the rest of the day.
Awards will be given at 3:30 p.m., followed by the auction at 4 and garden tours from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Cost is $25 for the Friday dinner; $15 for Saturday lunch and refreshments.
