Simerlinks' 60th celebrated during party in Struthers



XYOUNGSTOWN -- David James and Rita Jean Simerlink, 1917 Lynn Ave., were honored at a dinner celebration July 3 at The Elm Tree in Struthers to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.
The event was hosted by the couple's four sons, David B.L. Simerlink of Sebring, Fla., Richard R. Simerlink of Youngstown, Thomas M. Simerlink of Poland and Ronald R. Simerlink of Austintown. Ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren complete the family.
The former Rita Jean Conner and Mr. Simerlink were married June 25, 1945, at Sacred Heart Church in Campbell.
Mrs. Simerlink, a homemaker, worked for Youngstown Sheet and Tube Co. and Homemakers. She is involved with the Red Hat Society, and she and her husband are members of St. Nicholas Church in Struthers.
Mr. Simerlink worked for United Engineering as an assembler and was a turnkey operator for the Youngstown Water Department, retiring in 1980. He is a Navy veteran, serving in both World War II and the Korean conflict. He is a member of Amvets Post 44.
