Romans mark 65th wedding anniversary

XYOUNGSTOWN -- A Mass was held July 9 at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church in honor of Mr. and Mrs. George Roman, 41 N. Portland Ave., on the occasion of their 65th wedding anniversary.
A dinner with family and friends at Davidson's Restaurant in Austintown followed the ceremony and was hosted by the couple's son and daughter-in-law, Don and Patricia Roman. Three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren complete the family.
The former Helen Poponyak and Mr. Roman were married July 16, 1940, at St. Mary Church.
Mrs. Roman, a homemaker, was a member of the Rosary Society and Catering and a bingo worker at the church. Mr. Roman worked at U.S. Steel Co. for 43 years, retiring in 1977. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
The couple belong to the Golden Pillars at St. Mary's.
