Youth theater slates 'Rumplestiltskin' shows
YOUNGSTOWN -- "Rumplestiltskin" will be presented by the Youngstown Playouse Youth Theatre July 25-29 in the theater's Moyer Room. Two performances are scheduled each day, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Adapted from the Grimm Brothers story, the play is the traditional tale with a twist: the audience must work with the actors to help the story along. The play is written and directed by Youth Theatre Director Patricia M. Fagan. The cast includes Terra Guerrero, Diandra Lazor, Harold Waychoff, Hallie McGee and Joey Corradi. Tickets are $3 per person. Reservations are necessary and may be made by calling the box office at (330) 788-8739.
Band to open market
YOUNGSTOWN -- Brady's Leap, a local band, will perform on opening day of the North Side Farmers Market at 10:30 a.m. Saturda. The market is open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the corner of Elm and Illinois across from Wick Park, just north of YSU. Phone: (330) 518-6971 for information or a vendor's form. The market will offer fresh produce from local farmers. Vendors will sell tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, fresh fruits and berries, a variety of seasonal vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower, as well as the ever-favorite sweet corn. Other highlights include ribs served right off the grill, organic fair trade coffees and teas, low-cost baked goods, organic soaps, lotions and creams, and a community yard sale. Children can play games and make crafts at the Children's Table. Parking will be available in the Rodef Sholom and Richard Brown Methodist parking lots.
Operetta revue
CANTON -- The Canton Comic Opera Company will present live on stage, "Memories of Old Broadway: A Revue of American Operetta 1900-1928," and Buster Keaton's silent film "Sherlock Jr." (1924) Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Canton Jewish Community Center Auditorium, 2631 Harvard Ave. N.W. The production is a benefit for the not-for-profit opera company. Tickets are $15 for general admission.
