Check eligibility for Summer Crisis Program

YOUNGSTOWN -- Mahoning Youngstown Community Action Partnership is taking appointments for those seeking assistance provided by the Summer Crisis Program. The program runs through Aug. 31.
People may be eligible for electric assistance or qualify for a free air conditioner. If a family member has a breathing condition verified by a medical professional, eligible households may qualify for assistance toward their electric bill, an air conditioner, or both.
All income eligible seniors (60 years of age or older) are eligible for electric assistance; however, they must have a prescription from their doctor to receive an air conditioner.
Applicants must report their total household income for the past three months for all members 18 years of age or older. People are encouraged to apply if their household income is equal to or less than 150 percent of the federal poverty guidelines. Call MYCAP's automated system at (866)-223-1125 to schedule an appointment.
Each applicant must bring to the interview their electric and gas bills, proof of income for past 90 days, photo ID and Social Security cards for all household members 2 years of age and older.
