Female abductor to face 3 years in prison

YOUNGSTOWN -- A city woman is on her way to prison for committing a crime nearly three years ago.
Judge Maureen A. Sweeney of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court sentenced Cleola L. Jones, 53, of East Lucius Avenue, to three years in prison on a charge of abduction.
Police accused Jones of holding her landlord's rent collector at bay with a firearm on July 19, 2002. A grand jury indicted her on Sept. 5, 2002, and her case was set for trial a few months later.
The trial was continued 11 times for various reasons, most by the defendant, according to court records.
Jones finally pleaded guilty to the abduction charge April 6. As part of plea-bargained agreement, the gun specification was dismissed.
The judge's court personnel said Monday that Jones committed the crime while on federal probation for a bank robbery.
After serving the prison time, Jones will be placed on three years probation to the Ohio Adult Parole Authority.
