Officer shoots bank robbery suspect dead

COLUMBUS (AP) -- An officer shot and killed a man he tried to arrest Monday in a bank robbery after police followed the man on a tip to several banks and spotted him carrying cash.
What happened during the confrontation was not yet clear, but police believe the man had a gun, Sgt. Brent Mull said. The officer fired one shot.
The man, whom police would not identify, was carrying cash when he returned to his car from a bank in suburban Worthington, Mull said. The car at a condominium complex was parked next to an unmarked police vehicle.
The man told the teller at the bank he robbed that he would shoot her if she did not comply, Mull said.
The officer was not injured.
