North Coast Buckeyes 21, R & amp;J Trucking 16 -- The wild winners bracket game had 34 hits. Xavier Godoy and Geoff Marple had three hits for R & amp; J Trucking. Allen James had four hits, scored four runs and had three runs batted in for the Buckeyes. Adam Hood had three hits and five RBIs while Cory Sayers, Mitch Rippers and Gauntlette Eldemine had three hits each for the winners. Eldemine had a two-run home run.
Astro Falcons 12, Rondinelli 2 -- The Falcons remain undefeated, handing Rondinelli its first loss. Cameron Konop tripled and doubled while Mike Dota doubled and singled. Kolten Hoffman had two singles for the winners. Jason Simons allowed just two earned runs in picking up the win on the mound. Corey Hitt had two runs batted in and Marc Kanetsky, Mike Rebesa, and Mike Carnahan had doubles for Rondinelli.
Cleveland Cobras 6, Koch Construction/Line Drive 2 --
Ryan Saydell struck out 11 as the Cobras scored three unearned runs in the fifth inning and added a pair of runs in the seventh to eliminate Koch/Line Drive. Matt Suschak had two hits for the winners while Mike Popio had two singles for Koch/Line Drive. Nick Turco went the distance in defeat, allowing three earned runs. He had three strikeouts.
Boys of Summer 16s 10, R & amp;J Trucking 1 -- Kyle Beckett and Todd Pence had two hits each for the winners as R & amp;J Trucking was knocked out of the tournament. Todd Miller allowed just one earned run. Xavier Godoy, Steve McNeely, and Joe Leeworthy had hits for R & amp;J.
Rondinelli Tuxedo 5, Boys of Summer 15s 2 -- Rondinelli scored three times in the top of the ninth. Corey Gruelle had three hits and Mike Hoelzel added two for the winners. Dan Banna tossed 22/3 innings of scoreless relief for the win. He had four strikeouts and allowed just one hit. Andrew Dobson pitched the first 61/3 innings with five strikeouts for Rondinelli. Alex Loftin went the first eight innings and struck out 11 for the Boys.
Rondinelli Tuxedo 9, Boys of Summer 16s 1 -- Steve Zubyk tossed a three-hit shutout with four strikeouts as Rondinelli won its third straight game. Corey Hitt had three singles and three runs batted in.
Thunder Select 10, Wolf Contracting 9 -- A two-out double by Brandon Bayer in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the win to the Thunder Select and knocked out Wolf Excavating. Frank LaRubbio and Matthew Kirkwood had two hits each for Wolf while James Oldfield had three hits for the winners.
Cleveland Glove Masters 11, Dave Sugar Excavating 3 -- Dave Sugar was the first local team to lose in the tournament. Andy Richey, Eric Pirtz, and Andrew Grzebleniak each had a pair of hits for Dave Sugar while Anthony Sirna and Andrew Nemecek had three hits each for the winners. Jeff Welsh pitched a complete game for the mound win.
R & amp;J Trucking 4, Thunder Select 3 -- R & amp; J rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Xavier Godoy and Greg Brown each had a pair of hits for the winners while Nick Muscari tossed a complete game for the victory. He had four strikeouts. Andrew Dailey had a pair of hits for the losers. Joe Leeworthy drove home the winning run with a sacrifice fly.
Astro Falcons 11, North Canton Diamond Sharks 3 -- Cameron Konop, David DeJacimo and Marc Turnbull had three hits each for the Falcons while Brian Fox had two as the Astros won over the Sharks. Turnbull had four RBIs. Matt Wier tossed a complete game on the mound and had seven strikeouts. Blaine Maze had a triple and a single while Shane Facenbaker and Neil Michaels had two hits each for the Sharks, who were eliminated with the loss.
Koch/Line Drive 8, Jefferson Academy 1 -- Steve Gruver tossed a three hitter and had 14 strikeouts. Dan Kubala, Joe Koch and Dom Silvestri had three hits apiece, with Kubala having two doubles and four runs batted in. Koch added a double. The only run allowed by Gruver was unearned.
Strongsville 15, Wolf Contracting 8 -- The Strongsville Stallions scored eleven runs in the fifth and sixth innings and came from behind to defeat L.F. Wolf Contracting. Jarryd Summers had two doubles and a single while Tyrone Wright had two hits for Wolf. Anthony Medaglia had three hits, with Dave Kane, Dan Schultz and Joe Davis adding two hits each for the winners.
Rondinelli 12, Cleveland Glove Masters 0 -- Rondinelli pounded out 12 runs on as many hits in winning their second straight tournament game. Marc Kanetsky and Mike Carnahan had three hits, with each having a double. Mike Hoelzel and Andy Dobson added two safeties each for the winners. Steve Zubyk allowed just two hits in his four innings on the mound with three strikeouts for the win. Andrew Nemecek doubled for the Glove Masters.
R & amp;J Trucking 4, Cleveland Cobras 3 -- Zach Byler had a single and a two-run double as R & amp;J Trucking won their second straight game. Xavier Godoy and Mike Barone had RBI singles in the first inning. Greg Brown went the first six innings for the win, allowing three runs on five hits. He had two strikeouts. Nick Muscari tossed a perfect seventh for the save. Calvin Corso had two hits for the Cobras, while Kyle Rish drove home two runs in the sixth with a double.
