XYOUNGSTOWN -- Robin Elizabeth Hurt and Matthew Paul Grote, both of San Diego, exchanged wedding vows June 4 in an afternoon ceremony at St. Christine Church.
The bride is a daughter of Raymond and Beth Ann Dunn, 2712 Bendemeer Court, Poland, and Jennings W. Hurt of Dayton. The groom is a son of Michael and Kathryn Grote of Vermilion.
The couple were married by Monsignor David Rhodes, and they received guests at the Davis Center at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park before departing for a honeymoon in Monterey Bay, Calif.
The bride earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry at San Diego State University and will start doctoral studies in chemistry in September at the University of California in Irvine.
Mr. Grote is a research associate II for Metabasis Therapeutics in La Jolla. Calif., after earning a master's degree in chemistry at Youngstown State University.
The bride wore a strapless princess gown of white satin enhanced with crystal beading, and a matching illusion veil falling from a tiara.
Her attendants, in celadon-green gowns, were Rochelle Hurt of Columbus, her sister, as maid of honor, and Kelley Grote of Sandusky, the groom's sister, and Bernadette Celio of Columbus as bridesmaids.
Michael Grote Jr. of Elyria, the groom's brother, performed the duties of best man, and Nathan Bevaque of Vermilion and David Smith of Baltimore were groomsmen.
