Trumbull Hall adds 13
WARREN -- The Trumbull County Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremonies are scheduled for Oct. 16 at Sorrento's Restaurant on Parkman Road NW with 13 to be enshrined.
The inductees are: Red Ames (posthumous selection/baseball), Neil Brayton (basketball), Nick Cochran (football), Bob Fleischer (basketball), Brad Gintert (wrestling), Tracy Lynn (basketball), Marcus Marek (football), Tony Napolet (coach, football), Bernie Profato (contributor), Matt Stevens (posthumous selection, media), Randy Stephens (boxing), Clyde Wagner (contributor) and Bill White (former major league baseball standout and National League president.

Track and field
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Five track and field athletes have qualified for the national championships after excelling at the U.S. Track and Field Junior Olympic Region 5 meet.
Springfield High's Nick Panezich won three events in the young man's division: hammer throw, 175 feet; shotput, 60-4 1/2, and discus, 171-4.
Ursuline senior Kyle Muir was second in hammer throw (122-11) and fifth in discus (140-5).
In the young women's division, Hubbard senior Christine Angelo won the hammer throw (95-11), was second in the shot put (31-10) and won the discus (119-0).
South Range junior Lauren Lotze was third in the javelin throw (98-11).
In intermediate girls, Western Reserve junior Alexandra Rathburn won the hammer throw (108-3), was second in shot put (37-11 3/4) and was third in discus (119-7).
The nationals will be July 26-31 at Indiana University Purdue University of Indiana in Indianapolis.
Nicklaus fundraiser
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Jack Nicklaus Heart and Stroke Challenge golf tournament is open to the general public at participating golf courses in Mahoning County.
The Heart and Stroke Challenge is being held to raise awareness about the increasing risk of cardiovascular events including stroke, heart disease, and cardiovascular-related death in men and women ages 55 and older.
Entry is free with the option of buying a mulligan for $10 to help raise money to fund cardiovascular disease research and education.
Each member of winning teams at the local club level will be awarded a lithograph commemorating Jack Nicklaus' final appearance at the British Open.
Sectional winners will be invited to join Jack Nicklaus for a day of golf instruction and fun at PGA National in West Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Rally for a Cure
CORTLAND -- The "Rally For A Cure" coed foursome scramble will be Aug. 12 at Tamer Win Golf & amp; Country Club.
All proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Cost is $60 for 18 holes, cart, hot dogs on the turn, refreshments, a catered buffet luncheon and prizes. There is a limit of 132 golfers.

Pro Football HOFtickets available
CANTON -- A limited number of tickets for the Aug. 7 Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony will go on sale Wednesday.
Field level ($25) and sideline ($15) tickets are on sale and may be purchased by credit card by visiting the Pro Football Hall of Fame's website at www.profootballhof.com or by calling Turnstyles Ticketing at 1-800-913-9788 beginning Wednesday at 10 a.m.
There is a limit of six tickets per order and all sales are final.
Enshrined in the Class of 2005 will be Benny Friedman, Dan Marino, Fritz Pollard and Steve Young.
Cavs hire twoassistant GMs
CLEVELAND -- Lance Blanks and Chris Grant were hired Saturday as assistants to new Cleveland Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry.
Blanks worked with Ferry at San Antonio, where he was director of scouting. He also was the Spurs' television analyst last season, when they won their third NBA championship in seven years.
Grant spent the last nine season with the Atlanta Hawks, where he was vice president of basketball operations and an assistant general manager.
Clement replacesHalladay for AL
BALTIMORE -- Boston Red Sox right-hander Matt Clement will replace injured Toronto pitcher Roy Halladay on the American League squad in the All-Star game, Boston manager Terry Francona announced Saturday.
Halladay, who would have started for the AL, was struck in the left shin Friday night by a line drive off the bat of Texas' Kevin Mench.
X-rays revealed a fracture, and Halladay is expected to be sidelined for at least a month. The 2003 Cy Young winner is 12-4 with a 2.41 ERA.
Clement is 10-2 with a 3.85 ERA.
U.S. beats Canada 2-0
SEATTLE -- Landon Donovan scored in the final minutes and the United States beat Canada 2-0 on Saturday in group play of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Donovan's header, off a nicely played cross by DaMarcus Beasley in the 90th minute, moved Donovan into third place all-time on the American goal list with 25, passing Joe-Max Moore. Only Brian McBride (28) and Eric Wynalda (34) have scored more.
The United States has six points in Group B -- tied with Costa Rica -- and will advance to the elimination phase of the tournament. Costa Rica beat Cuba 3-1 earlier Saturday and will play the Americans Tuesday night in Foxboro, Mass.
Driver takento hospital
SPARTA, Ky. -- NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Rick Crawford spun out and hit the wall along the backstretch at Kentucky Speedway on Saturday and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Crawford crashed during qualifying for the Built Ford Tough 225. He spun his Ford coming out of the second turn and made what track officials called "significant contact" with the wall along the backstretch.
He exited the truck under his own power.
Track spokesman Tim Bray said Crawford was alert and was taken to a hospital "for further evaluation.
