July 2
Theft: A customer left Truck World on state Route 62 and failed to pay for $16.52 worth of gasoline.
Arrest: A Hubbard man was picked up in the 100 block of South Main Street. He was wanted on a warrant charging him with failure to appear on the original charge of failing to pay taxes.
July 3
Arrest: After conducting a traffic stop near North Main and Walnut streets, officers took into custody an 18-year-old West Middlesex, Pa., man on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
Criminal damaging: A Hubbard man returned to his motorcycle after playing softball at Harding Park, 249 Roosevelt Drive, and found numerous scratches on it.
July 4
Theft: An employee at Deer Creek golf course, 7691 E. Liberty St., accused a Hubbard man, 22, of stealing gasoline from the business.
July 5
Possible theft: A man reported someone may have stolen a hydraulic dump trailer in the 700 block of Elmwood Drive.
Theft: A woman in the 100 block of Orchard Avenue reported the theft of some solar-powered landscaping lights.
Assault: A man alleged a Lauretta Lane man assaulted him at the victim's home in the 800 block of Rosewood Drive.
Arrest: Police arrested a Hubbard man, 44, on a felony warrant charging him with passing bad checks.
July 6
Breaking and entering: A man called police after noticing a back door to a residence in the 40 block of East Park Avenue ajar. Police found it had been pried open.
Bad check: A Youngstown man found out personal checks had been stolen from him, and that one was cashed at Second National Bank, 24 W. Liberty St.
Criminal mischief: A man in the 800 block of Johnny K Boulevard discovered someone cut a hose filter to his swimming pool.

June 29
Vehicle theft: A Stevenson Ranch, Calif., man staying at the Hampton Inn, 4400 Belmont Ave., discovered a 2004 Ford rental truck missing.
Burglary: A man in the 3000 block of Northgate Avenue discovered someone broke into his home through a window and left through a rear door. Stolen were a Sony PlayStation 2 game system, a DVD player and two 14-karat pieces of jewelry, for a loss of $1,790.
Theft: A woman reported the theft of a $200 cellular phone from her residence in the 4000 block of Eastlawn Avenue.
Vehicle theft: A Bakersfield, Calif., woman discovered a 2005 rental truck stolen while she stayed at the Hampton Inn.
Burglary: Someone broke into a residence in the 1000 block of Liberty Street through a rear basement door and removed a $4,000 garden tractor, a cart, a weed trimmer and a sprayer. The loss came to $4,320.
June 30
Domestic violence: Officers arrested a 61-year-old man at his Fifth Avenue residence on a domestic-violence charge after a woman alleged he bit her and struck her in the head during an altercation. The victim received treatment at Forum Health Northside Medical Center, Youngstown, for a bite on her right hand.
Criminal simulation: A worker at Movie Exchange, 2710 Belmont Ave., told police a man tried to pass a counterfeit $100 bill and a phony $50 bill. After the man went to Goodwill Industries, 2747 Belmont, police found that a counterfeit $50 was passed there.
Theft: A woman, 19 to 22 years old, stole two skirts and two tank tops during an outdoor sidewalk sale at Fashion Bug, 3551 Belmont Ave.
July 1
Auto theft/recovered property: A 1993 Chevy Astro van was found with its steering column damaged after a West Montrose Street man reported it stolen.
Criminal damaging: Someone smashed a front window at Punky's Pit Stop, 6670 Belmont Ave., causing $500 in damage.
Criminal damaging/attempted theft: A Fort Wayne, Ind., man staying at the Hampton Inn realized someone broke into his rental truck by drilling a door lock in an attempt to steal the vehicle. The steering column and steering wheel were damaged.
Criminal damaging: A woman in the 1300 block of West Montrose Street reported $400 in damage was done to her vehicle's steering column.
Theft: A worker at Radio Shack, 3551 Belmont Ave., told police a man in his early 40s shortchanged the business $40.
Theft/breaking and entering: A man discovered someone removed a rear door to a residence in the 700 block of Colonial Drive that he's moving into. A $2,000 trailer, a five-gallon paint sprayer, a 12-inch-by-12-inch tile and a vacuum cleaner were stolen. The theft totaled around $4,600.
July 2
Recovered property: Police recovered a stolen 1991 Nissan Sentra on a shoulder area on state Route 11 near Tibbets-Wick Road. The vehicle belongs to a Campbell woman.
Criminal damaging/criminal trespass: A woman returned from vacation to her home in the 900 block of Mansell Drive and found her swimming pool's water level low as well as damage to a pool skimmer, sliding board and solar light. A neighbor told police he saw 20 to 30 teenagers in the woman's back yard while she was away.
Theft: An employee at Steve's Towing, 4561 Belmont Ave., noticed eight to 10 compact discs missing from a car in a storage lot.
Arrests: While conducting surveillance on a rental truck at the Quality Inn and Suites, 4055 Belmont Ave., police say one of three men who had pulled up damaged the truck's door lock before entering. Officers apprehended two Youngstown men, 19 and 23, and an Austintown man, 23. All three faced charges of receiving stolen property, attempted theft, possession of criminal tools and obstructing official business; two of the suspects also were charged with resisting arrest.
July 3
Assaults: Three people in the 200 block of East Montrose Street alleged two neighbors, 34 and 55, angry about the placement of a fence, beat up one victim and twice punched another in the face during a fight. One neighbor told officers one of the victims came toward him with a baseball bat. Injuries to the two included swelling and a bloody nose.
July 4
Breaking and entering: A woman in the 1300 block of West Montrose Street alleged her sister, 24, kicked in the victim's apartment door and removed a TV and a toy that belonged to the sister.
