Social Security judge appointed chief

LIBERTY -- Ronald A. Marks of Liberty has been appointed chief judge for the Cleveland Office of Hearings and Appeals, Social Security Administration.
Judge Marks practiced law in Vancouver, Wash., and Warren for 33 years before accepting appointment as a U.S. Administrative Law Judge with the Social Security Administration in April 2004.
Judge Marks' original selection as a U.S. administrative law judge was made from a national register of candidates. The register is comprised of applicants who have successfully completed competitive writing tests, interviews, background investigations and submission of an application detailing career achievements.
Judge Marks began his judicial duties in Cleveland with the Social Security Administration on June 2, 2004. After completion of a competitive selection process, Marks was appointed chief hearing office judge of Cleveland on June 10, 2005.
Thirteen full-time judges and two senior judges hear and decide cases in the Cleveland office. As chief judge, Marks is responsible for overall management of disability appeals filed by residents of northeastern Ohio. In addition to his management duties, Judge Marks will continue his regular schedule of hearing and deciding Social Security disability appeals.
