Mink, Livi Steel climb to final series
Rondinelli Tuxedo and Astro Falcons were eliminated from this year's postseason.
STRUTHERS -- One of the changes made in the Class B League was the addition of two teams to create three rounds of playoffs.
Tonight at 7:30 at Cene Park, fifth-seeded Mink Financial and No. 6 seed Livi Steel will begin the championship series.
Mink 6, Rondinelli 5
Mink built a 6-1 lead, helped by a five-run third inning which saw Mink send 11 men to the plate. Dave Piersante and Ryan Myers had RBI singles for Mink in the third, and Kevin Lee had a two-run single.
Matt Weymer held Rondinelli to one run on three hits in four innings before Rondinelli broke through for three runs in the fifth. Josh Tedesco came on in relief and allowed just two singles over the last 2 1/3 innings with four strikeouts for the save.
Piersante, Myers and Caullan Owens had two hits each for Mink, which has won nine games in a row.
Tony Brunetti had three hits and Phil Williamson two for Rondinelli. Tim Kearney tossed 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief with two strikeouts.
Livi Steel 4, Astro 3
STRUTHERS -- A one-out single by Scooter Hargate scored Billy Messer with the winning run in the ninth inning, giving Livi a 2-0 series sweep.
Jake Abbott went the distance for the victory as he allowed three unearned runs. He had five strikeouts and walked two, and retired 10 of the last 11 hitters he faced. Manoli Pahoulis had three hits, one a double for Livi. Stephen Hermann had a two-run double for Livi.
Messer started the winning rally with a double.
Kolten Hoffman had a pair of hits for Astro Falcons. Josh McKenney suffered the defeat as he went four plus innings in relief, allowing one run on three hits.
Jared Bartholomew had a two-run single for Astro.
Warren Class AA
D & amp;K Roofing scored eight times in the fifth inning to defeat Predator Trucking, 8-3, in recent Class AA baseball action.
Predator's Jonathan Camuso had a no-hitter going until the fifth-inning eruption. Jason Williams and Jim Skiffey each had two-run singles.
Champion Molded Plastics 15,Bazetta-Cortland Optimists 2
Tyson Rowland had four hits, five stolen bases and three runs scored. Rudy Pekarovic drove in four runs.
Warren Penn-Ohio 6,Lone Wolf Freight Systems 5
Winning pitcher Steve Liebal struck out nine batters while Sean Lucas and Pete Zock each had two hits including doubles.
Lone Wolf's Pat Stantial had two hits and two RBIs. Justin Eschman and Justin Kurilichick also had two hits each.
