ENTERTAINMENT Benefit to include auto show, concert

There will be lots of chrome and food at this weekend's concert.

CHAMPION -- Set-up is under way for the 13th annual Car, Bike and Truck Show Benefit Concert, all day Sunday.
The event will be at Fordeley's Music and Instrument Repair and Nunnies Mobile Motors, 4922 Mahoning Ave.
The benefit concert is to raise money for Parkinson's disease. Previous concerts here have raised money for cancer, cerebral palsy and other diseases, and usually raise about $1,000.
"It varies. One year we raised a couple thousand dollars for cancer," said business owner and benefit concert organizer Frank Fordeley.
"I'm trying to make the world a better place. Times are hard," he said.
Registration for those who wish to enter a vehicle is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. the day of the concert and costs $10; pre-registration is $8.
More than 300 trophies will be awarded around 6 p.m. Categories include best chrome, best interior, best paint and several best of shows, Fordeley said.
Musical performances
Bands will take the stage around 11 a.m. The headliner, the Frank Fordeley Family Band, will take the stage around 4 p.m.
The band recently released a new CD, "Bike Night," that includes "After 911," a song Fordeley wrote after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. "After 911" has achieved worldwide release and is promoted by Hilltop Records, he said.
Also performing with the Fordeleys will be John Sferra of Glass Harp and Smokin' Bill of Y-103 radio.
Fordeley's wife and daughters will be cooking up a storm, including hoagies, hot sausage sandwiches and hot dogs; beverages will also be available.
