XAustintown Fitch Football Parents Association, in conjunction with Greenwood Chevrolet of Austintown, will raffle off a two-year lease on a 2005 Lordstown-built Chevrolet Cobalt at the Falcon's final regular season home game in October. The lease package is worth $6,000. Tickets for the fundraiser will go on sale today at the Austintown parade and will continue throughout the football season. Tickets are $5 each and six for $25.
XMahoning Valley Epilepsy Fund is sponsoring Rocking for Epilepsy Awareness and Support from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant, Route 46, Austintown. Anyone interested in showing support by rocking in a rocking chair for one hour should call (330) 270-8037 to reserve a time to participate.
GARDEN TOURS
XAn art and garden tour of the Draime Legacy Gardens, a learning laboratory of Kent State University's horticulture program, will be held July 21 in Howland. Tour times are 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., and the cost is $50 per person. Tickets must be ordered by July 15 by calling The Butler Institute of American Art at (330) 743-1711, Ext. 123. The event will include a tour of the gardens, which was a gift to KSU from Butler Institute patrons D. Max and Cecile M. Draime, and will feature speaker Sissy Biggers, from the PBS show "The Victory Garden."
SALES
XAnimal Welfare League of Trumbull County is holding a book sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the Menagerie Thrift and Gift Shoppe's parking lot at 1010 N. Park Ave. The sale will include paperbacks, hardbacks, textbooks and sets. Dog treats, dog collars and animal badges will also be sold. The menagerie will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. selling items at garage-sale prices. Proceeds will benefit the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County. XA youth ministry rummage and bake sale will be held at the St. Jude Activity Center, 180 7th St., Columbiana, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 15 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 16. The group will accept baked goods, clothing, small appliances, household items, etc., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 12, 13 and 14.
