Computer theft injury
YOUNGSTOWN -- A West Side man was injured Friday evening when he was dragged from a vehicle as he tried to get inside and retrieve a laptop computer that was taken from him.
Michael Abighanem, 20, of North Evanston Avenue, suffered injuries on the right side of his body when he got caught in the back door of a car after trying to open it.
According to a police report, two men approached Abighanem's front porch and stole the victim's computer before fleeing in a blue or gray Lincoln Town Car. Abighanem chased the vehicle as it sped on North Evanston in an attempt to get his computer back, the report states.
After the two men heard Abighanem's screams, they stopped near Connecticut and Belle Vista avenues and the victim jumped into the back seat. One of the perpetrators pointed a small black handgun at Abighanem's head and chest, the report states.
Afterward, the men returned Abighanem's computer and dropped him off near a Sparkle Market on Mahoning Avenue, the report shows.
Abighanem was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center and released.
Officer memorial run
YOUNGSTOWN -- The third annual Our Fallen Officers memorial motorcycle run in memory of Youngstown Patrolman Michael T. Hartzell is July 10, rain or shine.
Participants can register at Jackson Elementary School, 1813 Windsor Ave., from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. that day.
The opening ceremony begins at 11:30 a.m., with the last motorcycle out at noon. Riders pay $15 and passengers pay $10. After the run, food, drinks, entertainment, drawings and prizes will be at Jolly Joe's Restaurant & amp; Sports Bar, 3718 Sheridan Road.
Hartzell was shot and killed in the line of duty April 29, 2003. His memory lives on through charity events that include a golf outing.
Block watch meeting
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Westside Nosy Neighbors Block Watch will have its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Brendan's School, Room 103.
Fourth Ward Councilwoman Carol Rimedio-Righetti will be in attendance.
New members are welcome.
Kids camp registration
GIRARD -- The Girard Multi-Generational Center on Trumbull Avenue will again host its educational program, Camp Fun.
Registration deadline is Tuesday and is now under way for children ages 5 to 12.
The first week's session will run from July 11 to 15 for children 5 to 8. The second session will be July 18 to 22 for ages 9 to 12.
Camp hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The fee is $15 per child for the entire week, including supplies and snacks. Campers are asked to bring a bagged lunch.

Pools open for summer
YOUNGSTOWN -- The city's two pools are now open daily from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. until Aug. 17.
The pools are in North Park off Belmont Avenue, and the Borts Pool on the West Side, off Belle Vista Drive.
Admission is 50 cents for children, and $1 for adults.
Christmas in July boats
CLARK, Pa. -- RC's Marina at the Shenango Reservoir will host its 23rd annual Christmas in July celebration July 23 to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The event will feature a Chinese auction, raffle, music, dancing, fireworks and a visit from Santa Claus.
