XYOUNGSTOWN -- The wedding of Sarah Ann Gubany and Michael Joseph Kurka, both of Lakewood, took place at 2 p.m. May 28 at St. Edward Church.
Monsignor Robert Siffrin presided, and a reception followed at Leo's Ristorante in Howland. Afterward, the newlyweds left on a trip to the Riviera Maya, Mexico.
The bride is a daughter of Donald and Carol Gubany, 1072 Colonial Drive, and the groom is a son of Michael Kurka and Helen Holman, both of Middleburg Heights.
They live in University Heights.
The bride wore a strapless gown of diamond-white silk satin fashioned with a full skirt overlaid with detailed organza and extending to a chapel-length train.
Ivory and papaya gowns were worn by the honor attendant, Susan Gubany, sister of the bride, and the bridesmaids, Jennifer Lishing, also her sister; Sunberri Murphy, her cousin; Valerie Kurka, the groom's sister; and Caroline Wojtkowski, Jill Wilkerson and Catherine Kubera.
Best man was Anthony Kuhn, cousin of the groom, and groomsmen were Matthew Gubany, brother of the bride, Michael Konet, Ryan Steiner, Brian Wright, Charles Huebsch, Dylan Acerra and Joseph Kubera.
The bride's niece and nephew, Grace and Benjamin Lishing, were flower girl and ring bearer.
The bride earned a bachelor's degree in nursing at Ohio State University. She is a sales representative for Eli Lilly and Co. in Cleveland. The groom holds a bachelor's in psychology from Miami University and is a client relation manager for Ohio Savings Bank in Cleveland.
