CRIME Man imprisoned for series of 2004 burglaries

The man pleaded guilty to burglary charges.
MERCER, Pa. -- A local man was sentenced to a prison term this week and ordered to make restitution for a series of 2004 burglaries.
Judge John Reed of the Mercer County Common Pleas Court sentenced Chad Geiger, 23, with addresses listed at Liberty Street, Fredonia, and Perry Highway, Mercer, to two to four years in prison followed by two years' probation. Geiger pleaded guilty to two consolidated counts of felony burglary as well as misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief and theft by unlawful taking.
According to court documents, Geiger broke into numerous businesses including Tri-County Deck, 3762 North Hermitage Road, Pymatuning Township; Veado's Mini-Market, 181 Hadley Road, Hempfield Township; Universal, 3409 E. State St., Hermitage; Pymatuning Coin Laundry, 3290 Saramac Drive, South Pymatuning Township; J & amp;J Laundry, 36 Franklin Road, Coolspring Township; Frank Crash Auto Wrecking, 840 Mercer Road, Hempfield Township; Guy McKean Meat Packing, 5170 Lake St., Sandy Lake; Gilliland's Service Station, 1162 Walnut St., Stoneboro; Fredonia Coin Laundry, no address given; Jamestown Laundry Mat, 121 Liberty St., Jamestown; and Rainbow Valley Restaurant, 2791 Perry Highway, Hadley.
Geiger also was ordered to make restitution for thousands of dollars in damage.
Other sentencings
Also sentenced this week were:
UCarlotta Freeman, 33, of Washington, Pa., was placed on one year's probation for misdemeanor retail theft for taking $188 worth of merchandise. No further information was available.
URaymond Johnson, 31, of Warner Road, Masury, Ohio, was sentenced to four to 12 months in the Mercer County Jail followed by 24 months' probation for felony retail theft. According to court documents, in February 2004, he took a $40 water filtration device from a Wal-Mart in Hermitage. The offense is a felony because it is the third or subsequent offense.
UMichael Taylor, 38, of Spruce Avenue, Sharon, was sentenced to 30 to 90 days in the Mercer County Jail followed by 24 months' probation for felony retail theft. In April 2004, court documents state, Taylor stole $64 worth of chewing gum and candy from Dollar General Store, Farrell. The offense is a felony because it is the third or subsequent offense.
