Poland girls top Struthers in MAC contest

POLAND -- Alex Rokicki scored 21 points, as Poland High took control of the game in the middle quarters, and defeated Struthers, 43-30, in a Metro Athletic Conference girls basketball game Wednesday night.
The Bulldogs (5-9, 4-5 MAC) trailed 6-4 after the first quarter but outscored Struthers 31-16 in the second and third quarters combined.
Erin Hawkins scored 10 points for Poland.
Struthers (5-10, 4-4) was led by Ashley Ruozzo's 10 points.
Salem 53, Alliance 19
ALLIANCE -- Eight Salem players scored, as the Quakers remained unbeaten.
Ranked fourth in this week's Associated Press poll, Salem (15-0, 9-0 MAC) led 32-10 at halftime.
Vanessa Kelly scored 11 points for Salem, while Sarah Hamilton added nine points and 11 rebounds. Jessica Hamilton and Katherine McGarry scored eight points each. McGarry also had eight rebounds and three assists.
Alliance is 1-14, 1-7.
