Howland Athletic Club will register baseball and softball players ages 5 and older for the 2005 season at H.C. Mines Elementary School. Registration times are from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 17, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 19, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 23 and 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 26. A birth certificate is required for first-time HAC players. People interested in umpiring also are asked to attend. For more information, call (330) 856-7624.
Girard Baseball Association will register players on Feb. 12, 19 and 26 at the Girard Free Library. Registration will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fees are: Tee Ball (5-7 boys, 5-8 girls), $25; Pitching Machine League (7-8), $25; Bambino League (9-10), $40; Little League (11-12), $50; Pony League (13-14), $70; Colt League (15-17), $70; Girls Fast Pitch (13-14, 15-18), $50; Girls Slow Pitch (9-12, 13-18), $40. Family discounts are available. All families are required to purchase $20 worth of raffle tickets at the time of sign-ups. Boardman Community Baseball will conduct player registration on Sunday and Feb. 5 at the Field of Dreams at 410 McClurg Road in Boardman. Registration is from 1 to 4 p.m. both days. Children ages 5-17 who live within the Boardman School District are eligible to enroll to play baseball and/or girls softball. Registration is required even for players who played previously. A parent or guardian must be present with proof of residence and a copy of a birth certificate if the player is new to the league. Visa and MasterCard payments will be accepted. SOCCER
Valley Sports Limited Footskills training will be held for soccer players ages 6-7 on Wednesdays and for players ages 8-10 on Mondays. Training each day is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and will be conducted by Joe DeMay and Chris Labatte, local Ohio North Youth Soccer Association staff coaches who hold national coaching licenses.
