BOARDMAN--Youngstown Regional Pet Scan LLC, 850 McKay Court, has been designated the only Positron Emission Tomography scan in the area which has been Medicare-approved for the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease.
PET scans, according to Youngstown Regional Pet Scan, is the only definitive test that can distinguish Alzheimer's disease from other forms of dementia.
Youngstown Regional Pet Scan has established the first PET dementia program in the area. It has certified and registered nuclear medicine technologists, a state-of-the-art PET Scanner and has been accredited by the American College of Radiology.
Dr. Richard Black, of the facility, has had extensive experience reviewing PET scans as it relates to Alzheimer's disease. In addition, he has developed clinical education programs for PET practices across the nation and has written about PET scanning for dementia.
