CHAMPION -- Kent State University Trumbull Campus will offer a course on conflict management from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Students will receive instruction on accepting responsibility for managing conflict instead of avoiding it; disregarding quick fixes to conflict and searching for real solutions; negotiating disagreements on a win-win basis; and transforming conflict into a positive, productive force. Skin cancer screening
LISBON -- The Columbiana County Health Department will sponsor a free skin cancer screening Feb. 1 at its building, 7360 state Route 45. Robert Morehead, health commissioner, said the department is trying to detect and reduce skin cancer and teach county residents about the disease. A local physician will examine Columbiana County residents who have a suspicious lesion, such as a sore that will not heal, a mole or wart that has changed, a change in color pigmentation of the skin or any skin abnormality. Voter awareness talk
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Black Safety Forces Political Action Committee will sponsor "ABC's of Voter's Awareness" from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Black Knights Police Association Building, 1524 Oakland Ave. Seating is limited for the seminar, on basic information every citizen needs to know to become a more informed voter. The registration fee before Feb. 4 is $8 for adults and $5 for senior citizens and people ages 17 though 22. After Feb. 4, the rate is $10 a person. Arthritis and money
AUSTINTOWN -- The Arthritis Foundation will present a free forum, Money Matters & amp; Your Arthritis, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Feb. 16 at Austinwoods Rehab Center, 4780 Kirk Road. The session will explore economic self-sufficiency topics of interest to people with a chronic illness such as arthritis including: prescription medication access, Social Security, disability and financial planning. Rosemary Antonucci, supervisor at the Mahoning County Prescription Drug Assistance Program, will speak, as will Charles Mattes, information specialist with the Social Security Administration, and Debra Moore, a financial adviser with McDonald Financial Group.
