St. John's to host series on tradition

YOUNGSTOWN -- St. John's Episcopal Church will host a five-part weekly series of contemporary faith-based courses starting Feb. 16 and each Wednesday through March 16. The sessions will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The Christian education courses, titled "Via Media," are open to anyone curious about or interested in the Episcopal/Anglican tradition and St. John's Church.
Those attending are encouraged to bring their ideas and questions.
"We're hoping everyone seeking a spiritual community will feel welcome to enter both the journey and the conversation," noted Priscilla Hays, St. John's director of Christian education.
Using a combination of learning styles that will include video, written materials, small group discussion and large group forum, participants will encounter the basic principles of Christianity through the Anglican approach of scripture, tradition, and reason.
The church facilities, at 323 Wick Ave., just north of the main branch of the public library, have free, secure parking and are handicap accessible.
The "Via Media" sessions will take place in the parlor on the first floor of the parish house.
