Sloppy play dooms Michigan in 9-point loss

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) -- Indiana's D.J. White and Bracey Wright each scored 16 points, and the Hoosiers took advantage of Michigan's sloppy ball-handling and poor second-half shooting to win its third straight, 62-53, Wednesday night.
Indiana (8-7, 3-1) won for the sixth time in seven games and topped the .500 mark for the first time since Dec. 3.
The Wolverines (12-6, 3-1) were led by Brent Petway, who came off the bench to score 12 points. But Michigan was plagued by 20 turnovers and made just 7 of 28 second-half shots as its six-game winning streak ended.
Michigan has lost seven straight to the Hoosiers.
The second half was a stark contrast to the first half when Michigan overcame 11 turnovers by shooting 57.1 percent from the field.
The Wolverines couldn't duplicate that effort in the second half.
After Indiana trailed 30-27 at halftime, the Hoosiers opened the second half on an 8-0 run to take a 35-30 lead. Michigan got within 40-39 with 10:29 left, but Indiana responded with a 9-0 spurt.
